RTS Spices Founder and Owner

My name is Pathmasri and I am a professional chef with over over forty years of culinary experience and the founder of RTS import /export Ltd. I was originally born and raised in the pearl of the Indian Ocean, Ceylon, which is now called Sri Lanka.

Currently I am living Canada in as a red seal chef holding dual citizenship. My main object with RTS Spices is give world best spices from Sri Lanka give.

Ceylon Cinnamon

There are two kinds of cinnamon: Ceylon cinnamon and Cassia cinnamon. Ceylon cinnamon has a sweeter, fresher taste than the Cassia one, and if you are cooking Sri Lankan food, don’t ever replace one for the other.

Ceylon cinnamon has a soft fine appearance. Sweet, delicate and brittle with a hazel brown hue. It is an exquisite spice richer, healthier and more aromatic in flavour compared to other types of cinnamon that is grown in other countries. Sri Lanka is the number one producer and exporter of Ceylon cinnamon. At RTS we offer two types of cinnamon , whole and ground.

Ceylon Black Pepper

Black pepper is the second most produced spice in Sri Lanka after Ceylon cinnamon. Sri Lankan cooking uses lots of black pepper in their curries and other preparations. Sri Lankan pepper like other spices from the island, is well-known for its superior inherent properties. The Piperine content in Sri Lankan black pepper is two times higher than the pepper round in other countries.

Ceylon Cloves

Cloves are the most well-known in the group of “flower spices”. Cloves possess a strong, sweet flavour. Sri Lankans add cloves to rice as a flavouring agent, adding a couple of sticks to the cooking water. For curries, cloves are roasted in ghee. Clove oil is a natural antibiotic.

Ceylon Curry Powder

Ceylon Nutmeg

Nutmeg and mace are native to Indonesia, but just like cloves, nutmeg trees grow quite well in Sri Lanka.

The sweet earthy flavour of nutmeg is an essential spice in seasoning flavourful desserts such as puddings, cookies, custards and cakes. Nutmeg helps to enhance the flavour of food items that use cheese, eggs, vegetables and meat products as well.

Ceylon Mace

Mace is the stringy outer coating of the nutmeg seed and tastes like a mix of cinnamon and pepper with a bit of nutmeg too. It contains Myristicin which makes Mace another spice healer that promotes digestion, soothes aches and pains and is also said to prevent cancers.

Its sweet flavour can be added to enhances baked food item flavours and is also used in popular spice mixes such as garam masala powder. RTS imports organic Mace that meet and exceeds international standards in growing, drying and packaging Mace.
